Profile of Harvest Community Church
Harvest
Community church has it own unique character. We realize that within southern California,
unchurched Asian American boomers, busters, and blasters are all relatively unreached
generational groups. We believe Godís primary, though not exclusive, call for our
church is to reach out to these groups.
The
ministry philosophy of the church takes into consideration our Asian American ethnicity.
Our one hour long service that starts at 10:00 a.m. is like a family meal. Our guests
are served a message, comfortable or uncomfortable, in a somewhat warm and familiar
environment. The music represents a generation sensitive mindset and our regular
use of drama exemplifies our belief that the unchanging message of the gospel should
be continually communicated in changing ways.
The
mission of Harvest Community church is to bring the gospel to its surrounding communities
and build up the faith followers of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our unifying desire is
to see people seek the Lord wholeheartedly through worship, evangelism, discipleship,
small groups, the equipping of the saints, and finally, genuine fellowship. We are
focusing on the shepherding and encouragement of believers throughout their spiritual
journey - from "seed to shoot to root to fruit to harvest".
Weíre
also proud of our unofficial AACF connections. UCI staff worker Christine Konno,
volunteer staff worker Davin Dong, and several other past and present AACFer's are
part of our church family. We are here to complement Christian campus ministries
as well as support collegians making the transition into the ìreal worldî after college.
This can be an especially challenging time for anyone, and we wish to minister to
those facing this exciting and perhaps uncertain time in life.
In terms of roots, we are a three year old evangelical, independent daughter
church of Chinese Presbyterian Church of Orange County. Presently, we meet at Lakeside
Middle School (Irvine). We offer weekly Sunday morning services, an evening service
on the fourth Sunday of the month, and eight small group meetings at various locations
every other Friday evening.
(Rev. David Ho Sang is the Senior Pastor of Harvest Community church. He was born
and raised in Jamaica and currently resides in Tustin, California. Rev. Ho Sang earned
his M.Div. and ThM from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a D.Phil. (PhD) in
New Testament Theology from Oxford University in England. For more information on
Harvest Community please call (714) 573-5832).
